Slieve Donard is the highest peak (2,796 feet [852 metres]). It is near the coast at the northeastern end of the Mournes. Slieve Donard is named after Saint Donard, known in Irish as Domhanghairt or Domhanghart. At the summit of Slieve Donard there is a cairn and a small stone tower, which was built as a shelter.This tower is part of the Mourne Wall.More information on the following links:
